Go hybrid

Hybrid vehicles offer a combination of both worlds, blending the traditional power of petrol engines with the fuel-saving benefits of an EV. Whatever your lifestyle, find a hybrid to suit you.

Plug-in hybrids

Plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs) combine a petrol engine and electric motor. Drive short distances on electric power and recharge at home or at public charging points.

Self-charging hybrids

Self-charging hybrids can switch seamlessly from the petrol engine to the electric motor for better fuel economy and lower emissions.[disclosure: Plug-in Hybrid Emissions]

Mild hybrids

Mild hybrid vehicles (MHEVs) use a petrol engine with an electric motor to help boost acceleration and save fuel – no charging needed.

Which hybrid is right for you?

Your hybrid vehicle questions, answered

How do self-charging, plug-in, and mild hybrid cars differ?

Self-charging hybrids use an electric motor for short trips, recharging as you drive, with a petrol engine for longer journeys. Plug-in hybrids allow extended all-electric travel, with a petrol engine as back-up. Mild hybrids assist the engine with a motor but don’t run on electric alone.

What are the fuel savings with a hybrid car?

Hybrid cars generally offer better fuel efficiency than petrol cars, especially in urban driving where the electric motor handles stop-and-go traffic – so you’ll likely use less fuel overall.

What is regnerative braking?

Regenerative braking captures energy usually lost during braking and converts it to electricity, which recharges the battery. This helps extend your EV’s range by making the most of energy that would otherwise be wasted, especially during stop-and-go city driving.
