From new EV grants, great value charging, to saving on servicing, discover cost-saving electric car benefits.
Last year, the UK Government announced a new Electric Car Grant to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles. The grant is focused on reducing the cost of the vehicle’s purchase price. Ford was the first manufacturer to receive the government’s full electric vehicle grant, awarded in recognition of its strong and proven sustainability performance. Puma Gen E and E Tourneo Courier are recognised as eligible Band 1 vehicles and receive the £3,750 discount. Now in 2026, All-Electric Explorer and All-Electric Capri have been recognised as eligible Band 2 vehicles and will receive the £1,500 discount.
Customers can benefit directly from these savings through their Ford dealer, with no additional paperwork required. The closure date of the Electric Car Grant scheme will remain under review by the UK Government and is subject to amendment or early closure, with no notice, should funds become exhausted. We therefore recommend that you book a test drive or speak to a dealer.

Your EV cost questions, answered
What are the benefits of driving an electric car?
Electric cars offer multiple benefits, including lower running costs, fewer maintenance needs, and zero tailpipe emissions. EVs are also quieter and are often eligible for tax incentives, making them a cost-effective and environmentally friendly choice for daily driving.
What is the cost of an EV battery?
EV battery costs vary by model and capacity. While battery replacement is infrequent, Ford EVs come with an 8-year or 100,000-mile warranty, covering any potential issues (minimum 70% capacity).
Save on fuel
The average cost of charging an electric vehicle is £627 a year, compared with £1,971 for a traditional petrol engine‡. If you're able to charge at home and select a home energy EV tariff, you can reduce costs even further. Find out how much you could save using our Ownership Costs tool.
Save on servicing
Electric vehicles have fewer moving parts, so maintenance costs and servicing should be lower over time – one of the many advantages of electric vehicles.
EV battery warranty
Electric car batteries are built to last the entire life of the vehicle. For extra peace of mind, all Ford EVs come with an eight-year, 100,000 mile EV battery warranty (minimum 70% capacity).
Insurance policies
You don’t need special insurance to insure your electric vehicle, you can insure it with a regular insurance policy.
Ford Insure offers all the great benefits you may expect from a comprehensive car insurance policy, but it also includes additional electric vehicle specific features, like protection for your charging equipment and battery. For added peace of mind, we'll even recover your all-electric vehicle if you run out of charge while driving. Click here to find out more.
