With Adaptive Cruise Control technology, you choose the speed you want to drive at and the system will maintain it. If the built-in RADAR sensor detects a vehicle ahead, it will slow your vehicle to maintain a pre-set distance. Once the road in front is clear, the system will accelerate to your chosen speed.
When you stop at traffic lights or your vehicle is idling in a queue, this technology can automatically switch off the engine (while still supplying power to essentials like the headlights, air-conditioning, radio and the Ford SYNC system). When you're ready to move, just depress the clutch and select first gear as usual, or press the accelerator on an automatic, and the system restarts. Auto-Start-Stop is particularly effective in town and city streets, where it can cut fuel consumption by up to 10% (urban cycle).
If you’ve got your hands full, and the Kuga senses the proximity of your KeyFree key fob, all you have to do is wave your foot under the rear bumper and the tailgate will automatically open or close.
The innovative Active City Stop helps the driver avoid a collision in slow-moving traffic or at speeds up to 30mph. It does this by continually measuring the distance to the vehicle in front when it is within a near range. If the system detects the vehicle in front has unexpectedly reduced speed, it automatically applies the brakes.
Tow bars are usually fixed, so they permanently stick out from the back of a vehicle. But the Kuga’s optional electrically releasable tow bar makes it easy to let the tow bar tuck away behind the bumper when not in use.
