Now greener than ever

Model shown is a Ford S-MAX ST-Line Hybrid.

When choosing your Galaxy’s powertrain, you have several options to consider. Will you go for our new 2.5-litre petrol hybrid engine, combining reduced CO2 emissions with impressive power? Or our advanced diesel engine? If you decide on diesel, which power option? Which transmission: six-speed manual eight-speed  automatic? Do you need All-Wheel Drive? Decisions, decisions. Fortunately, we’ve made it easy for you to compare your options below.

Self-charging Ford Galaxy Hybrid

Galaxy’s new powertrain option combines a highly efficient 2.5-litre Atkinson petrol engine with a battery-powered electric motor. The system recaptures energy usually lost while coasting and decelerating and uses it to recharge battery, so there’s no need to plug in to recharge. And since the self-charging Galaxy Hybrid has a powerful water-cooled battery it also lets you drive short distances on electric power alone. To preserve boot space, the battery is nested under the floor. The new hybrid system delivers an impressive 190PS, all the power you will ever need. The Galaxy Hybrid also has a towing capacity of up to 1510 kg, so whether you want to tow a small boat, jetski or trailer you have all the capability you need.

Ford Galaxy Diesel

Galaxy’s diesel option is the 2.0-litre Ford EcoBlue engine. You can choose a 150 PS or a 190 PS version, which deliver 370 Nm and 400 Nm of torque respectively. Thanks to its advanced technology, the engine already complies with the stringent Euro Stage 6.2 emissions legislation. A selective catalytic reduction system converts nitrogen oxide emissions in the exhaust gas into nitrogen and water. Then a particulate filter reduces over 99% of the emitted solid particulates in the exhaust.
