UNDERSTANDING THE TYPES OF CAR TYRES

Your tyres are the only part of your vehicle in continuous contact with the road – so fitting the correct specification is vital for vehicle performance and safety. We offer a range of tyre types, from standard summer tyres, all season and winter tyres to run flat safety tyres.

The best place to get new tyres for your vehicle is your local Ford Dealer. Our specialists can advise you on finding the right new tyre for your Ford, based on your driving patterns and available budget.

We offer a range of tyres at competitive recommended retail prices, including fitting and balance, standard valves and disposal. We’ll also check your wheel components during the tyre fitting.

Summer Tyres

Standard summer tyres have tyre compounds that perform well in warmer weather in both wet and dry conditions.  As most of the UK does not experience extremes in temperature, standard summer tyres are fitted to the majority of new vehicles in the UK.

Winter Tyres

Winter tyres are designed to perform best when temperatures drop below 7°C. Driving on winter tyres provides added safety and peace of mind in wet, snowy and icy conditions. Stopping distances are reduced, grip is greatly increased, and the construction and tread pattern of winter tyres is designed specifically to cope with extreme weather conditions.

All Season Tyres

With an intermediate compound, All Season tyres are a compromise between standard summer tyres and winter tyres that will perform well in summer and winter conditions including heavy rain and snow and ice. Consequently, All Season tyres may be a way of maintaining performance without the need to change from summer tyres to winter tyres.

Runflat Tyres

Runflat tyres are designed to allow you to continue for a limited time at a maximum of 50 mph following a puncture. They can be identified with an “RF” mark on the tyre sidewall.
