Set your own pace with Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control. The system can identify the prevailing speed limit and automatically maintain your selected speed within the limit detected. Advanced radar technology scans for slower traffic in front of you, and can automatically adjust your speed to maintain a pre-set gap from the vehicle ahead. When the traffic has cleared, your vehicle will resume its pre-selected speed. (Option, requires SYNC 3 with Navigation)
Bollards, bicycles, low walls… The rear-view camera shows what’s behind you on a screen built into the centre console. As well as revealing objects you might miss, the system displays virtual lines to help you park into tight spaces. The camera activates automatically when you select reverse gear.
A tiny panoramic camera on the front of the vehicle relays a split-screen image to your Transit’s multi-function display so you can see vehicles, cyclists or pedestrians coming from either side. This front wide-view camera is invaluable if you’re edging out of a narrow parking space, or in a busy road where your view is obstructed.
Active Park Assist in the New Transit Minibus makes parking easier than ever. The system identifies a parking space that’s the right size and automatically steers you in or out, while you control the pedals and gears. This works for both perpendicular and parallel parking spots.
Front, rear and side parking distance sensors help you judge the distance between your vehicle and the obstacles around you. When the sensors detect an object, they activate a visual and audible warning that intensifies the closer you get to it.
The Blind Spot Information System uses RADAR sensors to see vehicles that may be hidden in your blind spot. When a vehicle enters your blind spot, the system alerts you with an orange light, clearly displayed in the side door mirror. Cross Traffic Alert works with Blind Spot Information System and alerts you to oncoming vehicles when you’re reversing out of a space and have limited visibility.
Cross Traffic Alert is part of the new Blind Spot Information System. When you’re reversing out of a space and have limited visibility of the traffic situation, Cross Traffic Alert can detect oncoming vehicles and sound a warning. The technology illuminates a light in the wing mirror too (left or right depending on the direction of oncoming traffic), as well as displaying a warning on the multi-functional display.
The Lane Keeping System uses a forward-looking camera to detect if you’re unintentionally drifting out of lane. Lane Keeping Aid provides gentle steering torque assistance to help guide you back into your lane. If your wheel touches the line or edge of the road, Lane Keeping Alert vibrates the steering wheel and displays a visual warning. The technology automatically deactivates at speeds below 43 mph (64 kph), or can be turned off manually.
With Selectable Drive Modes, you can tailor how the Transit Minibus handles to suit a particular job or terrain. Choose from Normal mode, Slippery mode, Mud/Rut mode, Tow/Haul mode, and for maximum fuel efficiency, the new EcoMode.
Electric power-assisted steering provides varying amounts of assistance depending on vehicle speed. The system also helps to improve to improve fuel economy by using electric power instead of drawing power from the engine.
Highly energy efficient, these advanced daytime running lights provide a signature look that really sets new Transit apart: they’ll help get you noticed during the day and seen clearly at night. A useful night-driving aid, Auto High Beam temporarily dips your headlights when it detects oncoming traffic or a vehicle ahead, stopping you dazzling other drivers. It then automatically reverts back to high beam, giving you maximum visibility.
Driver Alert System constantly monitors your driving behaviour and is designed to detect any changes that could be caused by fatigue. If the system identifies you’re becoming less vigilant, a warning icon appears in the display, suggesting you take a break. If your driving alertness further declines, the message is repeated and combined with a chime.
If you’re indicating and turning into a road or pulling into a parking space, a light within the headlamp, on the turning side, automatically illuminates the side of the road to give you enhanced visibility through the turn.
Hill Start Assist temporarily stops you rolling backwards or forwards when making a hill start. The system works by maintaining pressure to the braking system for an extra 2-3 seconds, giving you more time and control as you move your foot from brake pedal to accelerator. It’s also useful when you’re stopping and starting on slippery surfaces.
Wrong Way Alert in the New Transit Minibus helps to prevent you from unintentionally driving the wrong way on a motorway or dual carriageway. This can be particularly useful when in a country that drives on the other side of the road to your own. The system uses a combination of Traffic Sign Recognition and GPS information to detect if you’re entering a slip road in the wrong direction. If such a situation occurs, the system sounds a warning and displays a red “no entry” symbol as well as a message to “check driving direction”.
