Driving Experience

Every feature and technology in the Transit Connect is designed to maximise the efficiency of your business, and make driving as easy as possible. Advanced technologies can constantly assist you, with some responding automatically so you don’t have to worry about turning on headlights, or switching on wipers. In short, this is a van built to help you.

Features shown on this page may only be available on selected models. Where available, these features may be optional extras at additional cost. For more info, download price list to view current UK specifications.

Traffic Sign Recognition

Sees the road signs you might miss

Whether the signs are at the side of the road or above it, permanent or temporary, Traffic Sign Recognition can identify them. An icon of that speed or a no-overtaking sign appears on the instrument cluster and changes every time you enter a new limit.

An advanced system to help you stay in your lane

A Lane Keeping System uses a forward-looking camera to detect if you’re unintentionally drifting out of lane. Lane Keeping Alert then warns you by vibrating the steering wheel and displaying a visual warning. If you're slow to react or don’t respond, Lane Keeping Aid can provide steering torque assistance to help guide you back into the right lane. The technology is designed for multi-lane roads (like motorways), so will automatically deactivate at speeds below 43mph or can be turned off manually.

Headlights that turn on automatically when needed

Headlights that turn on automatically when needed

Automatic headlights use a sensor that detects failing light at dusk, or when there’s a sudden change in light conditions. This triggers the automatic headlights to turn themselves on, which can make driving both easier and safer.

Sensors that take the stress out of parking

Parking distance sensors help you judge the distance between your vehicle and obstacles around you. When the sensors detect an object, they activate an audible warning that intensifies the closer you get to it.

Ford Transit Connect Rear View Camera

Easier, safer reversing

Bollards, bicycles, low walls… The rear-view camera shows what’s behind you on a screen built into the centre console. As well as revealing objects you might miss, the system displays virtual lines to help you park into the smallest of spaces. The camera activates automatically when you select reverse gear.Tooltip

Helping you see, without dazzling others

A useful night-driving aid, Auto High Beam temporarily dips your headlights when it detects oncoming traffic or a vehicle ahead, stopping you dazzling other drivers. It then automatically reverts back to high beam, giving you maximum visibility.

Lamps that turn when you do, for better nighttime visibility

Lights that give you better nighttime visibility

If you’re indicating and turning into a road or pulling into a parking space, a light within the foglamp (on the turning side) automatically illuminates the side of the road to give you enhanced visibility through the turn.

Wipers that automatically adjust to the rain

Rain-sensing wipers spring into action when they detect moisture on your windscreen, then adjust their speed to deal with whatever the weather throws at you. You can even choose from several sensitivity levels that determine how much moisture can build up before the wipers activate.

Ford PowerShift gearbox

Ford PowerShift. Fast and fuel saving

Combining the convenience of an automatic with the control of a manual, this advanced six-speed gearbox pre-selects the next gear for you so you don’t lose power when you change. PowerShift’s lightning fast, seamless gear changes make driving smoother while saving fuel and lowering CO2 emissions compared with a normal automatic.

Driver Alert System tells you when you’re getting tired

Driver Alert System constantly monitors your driving behaviour and is designed to detect any changes that could be caused by fatigue. If the system identifies you’re becoming less vigilant, a warning icon appears in the display, suggesting you take a break. If your driving alertness further declines, the message is repeated and combined with a chime.

Ford Transit Connect Cruise Control with Adjustable Speed Limiter Device

Cruise control makes longer drives more relaxed

You can set the speed, using the cruise control toggles on the steering wheel. The system then maintains that speed, so you don’t have to keep your foot on the accelerator. To go faster or slower, you simply use the same controls.

Ford SYNC with Emergency Assistance

An important and potentially life-saving part of Ford SYNC is Emergency AssistanceFord Emergency Assistance - updated. In the unlikely event of an accident, where the airbag is deployed or the fuel-pump deactivated, the technology can use a Bluetooth®-paired and connected mobile phone to automatically make a direct call to the Emergency Services for you. You can choose to stop the call, or talk to those services if you need to. Crucially, the system will supply vital information, such as your GPS coordinates, even if you are unconscious.
