Driving Experience

Although it’s a seven-seater Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV), the Ford Galaxy isn’t just about passenger comfort. It’s also packed with advanced driver assistance technology. From Adaptive Cruise Control, to Active Park Assist and Blind Spot Information System (available as part of optional Driver Assist Pack) to Lane Keeping Aid which is standard on Titanium. These are just a sample of the Galaxy's array of sophisticated technologies, there to make your driving experience not only safer, but also a pleasure.

Sees what’s coming from either side

A small panoramic camera on the front of the Galaxy relays a split-screen image to your SYNC 3 display so   you can see vehicles, cyclists or pedestrians coming from either side. This front wide-view camera is invaluable if you’re edging out of a narrow parking space, or in a busy road where your view is obstructed.

Parking made even easier

Active Park Assist can steer you into parking spaces just 20% longer than your vehicle. Simply push a button and the sensors of this innovative system locate a suitable space as you drive past. Then it automatically steers you in, while all you do is operate the accelerator, gears and brake (following on-screen instructions and audible signals).

Power-assisted steering that responds to every situation

Electric power-assisted steering (EPAS) automatically adjusts to your speed and the conditions. At low speeds, the system makes wheel turns feel lighter and easier, improving manoeuvrability. At high speeds, when you need greater control, it firms up the steering. Now with drift control, EPAS also takes into account crosswinds and other driving conditions, while active nibble control reduces any unwanted vibration in the steering wheel.

Cruise control that can adapt automatically

With Adaptive Cruise Control technology, you choose the speed you want to drive at and the system will maintain it. If the built-in RADAR sensor detects a vehicle ahead, it will slow your vehicle to maintain a pre-set distance. Once the road in front is clear, the system will accelerate to your chosen speed.

Keeping you inside the speed limit

Whether the signs are at the side of the road or above it, permanent or temporary, Traffic Sign Recognition can identify them. Icons for speed limits and no-overtaking signs are displayed on the instrument cluster, alerting you to changing restrictions. And Intelligent Speed Assist works with Traffic Sign Recognition to enhance your speed control, enabling you to concentrate on the road. When activated, the system can identify the local speed limit and then automatically adjust your maximum speed accordingly.

Spots the vehicles you might miss

Cross Traffic Alert is part of the Blind Spot Information System. When you’re reversing out of a space and have limited visibility of the traffic situation, Cross Traffic Alert can detect oncoming vehicles and sound a warning. The technology illuminates a light in the wing mirror too (left or right depending on the direction of oncoming traffic).

An extra pair of eyes

Blind Spot Information System (BLIS)Tooltip senses vehicles hidden in your blind spot to make changing lanes saferCONFIDENCE IN CHANGEABLE CONDITIONS. If it detects a vehicle, the system alerts you via discreet warning lights on the door mirrors. If you miss the warning, with Blind Spot Assist applies light resistance to the steering, gently discouraging the manoeuvre. Cross Traffic Alert works with BLIS to increase awareness when you’re reversing out of a space with limited visibility. The system detects vehicles approaching from the sides and sounds a warning alerting you to their presence.

Ford SYNC with Emergency Assistance

Ford SYNC Emergency Assistance

An important part of Ford SYNC is Emergency Assistance. In the event of an accident, where the airbag is deployed or the fuel-pump deactivated, the technology can use a Bluetooth-paired and connected mobile phone to help you make a direct call to the Emergency Services. You can choose to stop the call, or talk to those services if you need to. Crucially, the system can supply vital information, such as your GPS coordinates, even if you are unable to. For more minor incidents such as tyre damage, FordPass lets you call Roadside Assistance with just a few taps, and track when help will arrive on a real-time map.

Travel smarter with Live Traffic

Avoid the gridlock, hold-ups and queues with our innovative feature, Live TrafficLive Traffic. When you pair your Galaxy through the FordPass app to SYNC 3, the state-of-the-art system seamlessly pairs to your SatNav system to deliver live traffic updates. What’s more, the real-time service updates every few seconds using millions of data points, delivering clearly monitored road situations that calculate the best journey times possible. Which is great, because whilst other drivers crawl through roadworks, Live TrafficLive Traffic ensures you’ll always arrive on time.

Easier reversing

Bollards, bicycles, low walls… The rear-view camera activates automatically when you select reverse gear and shows whatever’s behind you on your SYNC 3 display. As well as revealing objects you might miss, the system displays virtual lines that show your current path and help you park into the smallest of spaces. You can also switch to split-screen image that shows you what’s coming from either side of your vehicle, making it easier to reverse out of tight spaces.
