Performance and Efficiency

The New Transit is engineered to be more powerful, more efficient and more responsive. A range of advanced engines let you tailor your Transit to your exact requirements. A new 10-speed automatic transmission ensures you’re always in the right gear for the road and the job. And a range of technologies, including Auto Start/Stop and Acceleration Control help maximise fuel efficiency whilst reducing emissions.

Advanced new engine technology

Featuring a range of advanced 2.0-litre Ford EcoBlue diesel engines, the New Transit is more powerful and more efficient than ever. With four powertrains available, offering up to 185 PS of horsepower, you’re guaranteed to find the one that meets your specific needs.

A small electric motor can improve efficiency

To help maximise efficiency, the New Transit is now available as a Ecoblue Hybrid. A small battery-driven electric motor works with the conventional engine to help reduce fuel consumption when demand for power is low.

An additive that removes pollution

A selective catalytic reduction system uses AdBlue®, a urea/water-based fluid to convert NOx emissions in the exhaust gas into nitrogen and water. A particulate filter then reduces more than 99% of emitted solid particulates from the vehicle’s exhaust. To operate correctly, the AdBlue® tank of your Ford EcoBlue diesel engine must be filled with AdBlue® fluid. System warnings illuminate when fluid level becomes too low.

Helping you drive more efficiently

The innovative Ford EcoGuide system continually assesses the effects of your driving behaviour on your fuel consumption. The system analyses your speed, gear shifting, braking and anticipation levels, plus the number of short and long journeys you make. EcoGuide then feeds this information back to you via a display on the dashboard. The aim is to encourage you to drive more efficiently, reduce fuel consumption and save you money over the life of the vehicle.

A 6-speed transmission saves on fuel

The New Transit is equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission, making it more economical and efficient. Once you reach a high enough speed, just slip your van into 6th gear and save on fuel while you’re cruising along. You’ll find the gear changes are smooth and quick too.

Acceleration Control helps you drive more economically

This innovative option controls the rate of acceleration according to whether your vehicle is un-laden or part-laden. As a result, you can expect to lower your fuel consumption by up to 15%, depending on your driving style. The technology can also help reduce the amount of wear and tear on the engine, brakes and tyres, along with other components.

Re-charge your battery more efficiently

Unlike traditional systems, Smart Regenerative Charging only charges the battery when it needs it and, whenever possible, avoids doing so when you’re pressing the accelerator. This can help save even more fuel and further reduce emissions.
