How do I troubleshoot my smartwatch and FordPass®?

Below are some known issues and troubleshooting steps for resolution assistance. 

Before troubleshooting, ensure the following criteria is met:

Known Apple Watch Issues

  • You may experience intermittent animation freezes while using FordPass on your smartwatch. Use the following steps to resolve: 
    1. Force close the FordPass App.
    2. Reopen FordPass.
  • After idling for a long period of time, your smartwatch's Wi-Fi connection can weaken, and FordPass may fail to connect with your watch. This causes a spinning animation on your watch. Take one of the following steps to resolve this issue:
    • Option One:
      1. Force close FordPass.
      2. Reopen FordPass.
    • Option Two: Wait about five minutes and retry using FordPass. The connection should recover by then.
  • After using Remote Commands, if you background FordPass and reopen it within two minutes, you may see spinning animations over your commands that do not clear. Take one of the following steps to resolve this issue:
    • Option One:
      1. Force close FordPass.
      2. Reopen FordPass.
    • Option Two: Wait about five minutes to retry using FordPass. 
  • If you log out of your phone app, you may see intermittent spinning animations on your watch. To resolve this, log in again on your phone.

How to Force Quit an App on a Smartwatch

  1. Open the app, and keep it in the foreground of your smartwatch.
  2. Press and hold the Power Button. Release once the Power Off and SOS screen displays.
  3. Long press on the Crown. Release when the app closes.

Restart a Smartwatch

  1. Press and hold the Power Button for 15 seconds, or until your watch shuts down.
  2. Wait a few seconds, then press the Power Button again to turn it on.

Uninstall Apps on Wear OS (Android)

  1. Bring up the app list.
  2. Tap on the Play Store.
  3. Swipe down from the top of the screen, and select My Apps.
  4. Select the app they wish to uninstall.
  5. Scroll down and tap Uninstall.

Uninstall Apps on Watch OS (Apple)

  1. Bring up the app screen.
  2. Lightly press and hold the app until it jiggles.
  3. Tap on X on the app.
  4. Confirm the selection by tapping Delete App.
  5. Press the Digital Crown again.

Install Apps on Wear OS (Android)

  1. Bring up the app list.
  2. Tap on the Play Store.
  3. Tap the Search icon. 
  4. Enter the name of the app by selecting:
    • Keyboard to type the search
    • Microphone to dictate the search
  5. Select Install next to the app.

Install Apps on Watch OS (Apple)

  1. Bring up the app screen.
  2. Select the App Store.
  3. Tap Search to find apps. Search using either Dictate or Scribble.
  4. Select the app to view more information.
  5. To install, tap the app price or the Get button.
  6. When prompted, double-click the button under the Digital Crown to download.
