What do I do if the charge coupler/connector is stuck in my Ford electric vehicle?

If the charge coupler/connector is stuck in your vehicle, follow the steps below to remove the cord from your charging port.

  1. Make sure your charging session has been stopped.
  2. Push the unlock button next to the charging port, then pull the charger out.
  3. If the cord is still coupled to your vehicle, hold down the button on the plug handle and push in towards the plug.

Note: You may hear an audible click.

  4. Try to firmly pull out the cord.
  5. If the cord is still unable to be removed, try the manual release method. Instructions for the manual release method can be found in the ‘Charging Your Vehicle’, then for BEV vehicles under 'DC Charging' - 'Stopping Charging' and for PHEV vehicles under 'AC Charging' - 'Stopping Charging' section of your Owner Manual.
