AdBlue

AdBlue is a non-toxic liquid that’s colourless in appearance and is a solution of water and urea. A Selective Catalytic Reduction system uses AdBlue to convert nitrogen oxide emissions in the exhaust gas into nitrogen and water. A particulate filter then reduces more that 99% of emitted solid particulates from the vehicle’s exhaust.

You might have spotted a second, smaller filler cap next to the main filler of your diesel vehicle. If that cap is marked ‘AdBlue’, then your car is fitted with technology designed to reduce its emissions.

If you cover more miles than most, you may find you need to refill your AdBlue tank in between services. While you’ll be reminded in plenty of time to do this by messages on the dashboard, be warned that your car won’t start if you fail to refill the AdBlue tank before it runs completely dry.

Please note, not all diesel Ford vehicles use AdBlue. Speak to your local dealership for more information.

You should only use the specification of AdBlue certified on the cap. You can also check your owner's manual for specifications.
