Constables Launches The Ford Focus Carchair™ Wheelchair Accessible Conversion
The revolutionary CarChair™ system converts from an all-purpose wheelchair into the front seat of the three door Ford Focus, on either the driver or passenger’s side. In doing so it avoids the user having to transfer from their wheelchair and negates the need for storing a wheelchair in the boot of the vehicle. This manoeuvre is achieved by using Constables’ cleverly designed lift mechanism. Once the CarChair™ is linked to the lift, the chair is raised off the ground, the wheels are retracted and the chair, with its seated passenger, is swivelled into the well of the car where it is lowered and locked firmly into place, ready for the journey.

The Ford Focus is expected to be one of the biggest selling cars of 2005. Precision built, it not only looks good, but also handles like a dream, thanks to the latest design technology. With a wide choice of petrol and diesel engines, the range includes the popular 1.6-litre engine with Duratec Ti-VCT (Twin independent Cariable Cam Timing).

This system has been developed to produce a variable valve timing system that is able to increase power, while reducing fuel consumption and emission. Not only is this car much smoother to drive than the previous model, but also it is much quieter. The width of the vehicle has been increased to create more cabin space and a longer wheelbase helps to produce greater ride comfort. And, as you would expect, the model has a wealth of safety features, including Intelligent Protection System and a range of airbags to provide optimum driver and passenger protection.

The interior design of the Focus has a classy dashboard along with an ergonomically designed driver position for greater user comfort. The improvements in the rear are also noticeable, with a much larger boot space and more leg room for rear passengers.
