The organisation and operation of all of Ford's Motorsport activities in Europe is handled through the Ford of Europe Motorsport department, based in the Dunton Engineering Centre in Essex and is led by the Director of Motorsport, Mark Deans. The main activity is Ford's entry into the World Rally Championship with the two time championship title winning BP Ford Abu Dhabi World Rally Team. Of all the Motorsport activities that Ford is involved in, it is Formula Ford which still, today, 41 years after its conception, delivers the training ground for the Formula One stars of the future and this, with the pivotal involvement in the World Rally Championship, truly defines our sporting credentials.

The FordMotorsport department works in parallel to Ford TeamRS who, under Performance Vehicle Line Director, Jost Capito, are, in conjunction with Ford's main engineering teams, responsible for leading the design and development of Ford's road-going performance vehicles, known worldwide as ST and RS. Ford TeamRS combines the skills of Special Vehicle Engineering and motorsport to push the boundaries of rally and racing technologies bringing a real force in competition which is then transferred through to Ford's performance vehicle development.
