Q: What is the Ford Direct standard and what do the RAC check?
A: Ford Direct standards have been developed to ensure that buying a used vehicle is a hassle-free experience. All Ford Direct vehicles comply with the original new Ford specification, including tool kits, spare keys and service packs. Any replacement components fitted to the vehicle are Ford approved and also comply with the original specification. All vehicles come with a full service history.

The RAC conducts inspections at two stages; firstly to ensure that the Ford Direct standard has been met during the reconditioning process, then again as an added safeguard just prior to delivery to the Dealership.

The following list reflects the broad areas covered by the detailed RAC inspection:

1. Upper bodywork condition.
2. Paintwork condition.
3. Interior trim and condition.
4. Vehicle instrumentation and control functionality.
5. In-car entertainment and satellite navigation systems (where applicable).
6. Servicing history.
7. All fluid levels.
8. Interior and exterior lights operation.
9. Locks and remote control locking operation.
10. Accessories including vehicle jack and tool kit.
11. Vehicle engine note.

Only when the RAC Inspector is completely satisfied will they issue the RAC approved certificate and Ford Direct security windscreen hologram. This hologram is your assurance that your vehicle is Ford approved.

NMR stands for National Mileage Register, which is a database of mileages logged against vehicles to verify that the odometer of your Ford Direct vehicle has not been tampered with and to protect you from the risk of ‘clocking’.

Q: What if I am unhappy with my purchase?
A: If, in the unlikely event that you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, your Ford Direct car comes with a 30-day exchange plan. If you wish to change your vehicle for any reason, you can exchange it once within the first 30 days or 1,000 miles (whichever occurs first), subject to a few sensible terms and conditions:

The original vehicle must be returned to the selling dealer, with the same options, tyres etc. and must be in the same condition as sold. The vehicle can be exchanged for another Ford Direct vehicle of a similar or higher price. If you have bought the vehicle on finance, you must settle the balance with the finance company and sign a new agreement.
