Active safety

Sit back and relax knowing new C-MAX features many smart safety technologies, both active and passive. Thanks to the Intelligent Protection System (IPS), they’re always on guard, ready to react in an instant to help prevent accidents.

The Adaptive Front Lighting System lets you see around corners and, as an alternative, Bi-Xenon High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps are twice as bright as standard halogen lights. So other road users will notice you, well in advance. For even further reassurance, new C-MAX has an ultra stiff body shell and a rigid passenger safety cell, keeping you and your family safe from harm.

Active safety

Anti-lock Braking System (ABS)

Helping to keep new C-MAX agile at all times, ABS comes as standard and prevents the brakes from locking the wheels. This helps you avoid skidding in extreme conditions or under very hard braking.

Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD)

EBD, also standard, balances the braking force across all four wheels to achieve stable braking and shorter stopping distances.

Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) with Emergency Brake Assist (EBA)

ESP, which comes as standard, detects sudden changes in steering, braking and vehicle behaviour that may cause loss of vehicle control. It reacts automatically, if needed. By reducing power and braking individual wheels, it helps you and your family stay confidently on the right track. EBA, which comes as standard, helps reduce stopping distances in an emergency by applying maximum braking force when required.
