Ford and motorsport – racing into the future
Ford has a glorious history in motorsport, spanning over 70 years. We’re proud to be enthusiastically involved in just about every level of the sport: from amateur and entry-level motorsport to high profile, top level Series; from rallying to track racing, from junior to senior Formulas across four continents.

Ford is now the most successful manufacturer ever in the history of the FIA World Rally Championship with the 75th event win gained in Rally New Zealand in 2010. We are especially pleased to be able to translate the success and excitement of our motorsport involvements into exhiliarating performance vehicles like the Focus ST and the Focus RS which our customers can buy.
Ford and the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC)
Ford’s primary activity in motorsport is the gruelling FIA World Rally Championship (WRC). The events take place throughout the year over the most challenging terrains all around the world, in temperatures ranging from -22 to +40ºC!
This exciting and influential Championship is a critical component of our global motorsport strategy. The WRC is a fantastic opportunity for both testing and demonstrating the full potential of our new technological advances in performance vehicles – an impressive example of which is the Focus RS World Rally Car itself.

Ford's global motorsport activities
The Ford name is synonymous with motorsport across four continents and the majority of countries around the world. Motorsport is important because it allows the opportunity to showcase the true performance capabilities of Ford products and has cultivated a tremendous following everywhere our vehicles are sold.
Since Henry Ford started racing in the US in 1901, we’ve used our involvement in motorsport to improve the performance and safety of our road cars. We’ve done this by introducing innovative technology on some of the world’s most testing racing tracks.
