Wooden Spoon Rugby Charity
We’re sponsors of, and vehicle suppliers to, the rugby charity called Wooden Spoon. Set up in 1983, Spoon supports children and young people with a range of physical, mental and social handicaps. It has committed over £14 million in projects, and organised over 2,000 fundraising events.
These include the Ford Great Lakeland Challenge which takes place on Friday 11 September 2009. In less than 12 hours, teams of three will canoe the 10.5 mile length of Lake Windermere, cycle 26 miles over England’s steepest road pass – the 1:3 gradient Wrynose – and finally, conquer Scafell Pike, navigating an 8.5 mile route from Wasdale Head to the Langdale Valley.
We’ll be supplying a vehicle for each team, which has a target of £3,900 in sponsorship.

The Lord’s Taverners and the Ford Inner Cities Cup
The Lord’s Taverners was originally set up by a group of cricket-loving actors in the Tavern at Lord’s Cricket Ground. The charity helps young people, particularly those with social, environmental, physical or learning disadvantages, to enjoy cricket and other sporting and leisure activities.
We provide the charity with its distinctive green Taverners minibuses, so children with special needs can go to the seaside, theme parks, day care centres and other facilities.
We also sponsor the Ford Inner Cities cup. This under-14 national cricket competition takes place across the UK, with finals week held in the stunning grounds of Arundel Castle in Sussex. We supply vehicles each year for the finalists to travel to Arundel Castle.
