Watch Ford’s Real World Challenges
Ford cars are full of innovative and advanced technologies. So to find out just how sophisticated they are, we’ve been challenging our cars in the most ingenious ways possible. Núria Gomà from Barcelona, tested our Lane Departure Warning and Blind Spot Information System on a fearsome high-speed track.

Matthias Lorenz-Meyer from Berlin, put our ECOnetic technologies to the test on an amazing European road trip. We filmed their experiences for our latest TV ads, so click
the videos below to watch the ‘Director’s cuts’, including exclusive behind the scenes action.

Eco Mode
Eco Mode

This smart software monitors when you change gears (Gear shifting), how consistently and smoothly you drive (Anticipation), and the way you drive on different types of road (Speed). The system also takes into account the number of cold-engine short trips you might make. Eco Mode then generates a unique profile and score, so you can see exactly how to improve fuel economy.

Smart Regenerative Charging
Smart Regenerative Charging

Smart Regenerative Charging is an innovative technology that creates 'free' electrical energy every time you brake. And because this energy is used to boost your car's power sources (by helping to keep the battery fully charged), the system can reduce the amount of fuel you use.

Auto Start Stop
Auto-Start-Stop

Designed to save you fuel, Auto-Start-Stop senses that you’re at a standstill (at a red light, or in traffic) and shuts down the engine, while still supplying power to essentials like aircon and radio. When you’re ready to go, touch the clutch pedal and the engine restarts. This clever technology can cut fuel consumption and CO2 by up to 10% in urban environments and heavy traffic.

Lane Departure Warning
Lane Departure Warning

Advanced Lane Departure Warning is designed to detect when your car strays unintentionally towards road lane markings then alert you with vibrations through the steering wheel. If you don't react, Lane Keeping Aid is designed to apply steering force to help you recognise that you need to take corrective action. Operates at speeds over 40 mph on multi-lane roads with clearly visible lane markings.

Blindspot Information System
Blind Spot Information System

Sometimes, it might look all-clear to change lanes. But the Blind Spot Information System uses radar sensors to see other vehicles that might be hidden from view, then alert you with an orange light, clearly displayed in the corresponding side door mirror.

Active Park Assist
Active Park Assist

Active Park Assist is an innovative technology designed to take the stress out of parallel parking. Sensors detect and measure a space, which can be just 20% longer than the car. The system then steers you in automatically: you just operate the accelerator, gears and brake following  simple on-screen instructions and audible signals.

Torque Vectoring Control
Torque Vectoring Control

By reacting to the road 100 times per second and balancing the amount of power and braking delivered to the front wheels, state-of-the-art Torque Vectoring Control provides exceptional grip, ultra-precise handling and greater confidence when you’re accelerating through corners.

Traffic Sign Recognition
Traffic Sign Recognition

Smart Traffic Sign Recognition technology can identify traffic signs that you might easily miss, even temporary ones or those mounted on gantries. Displaying these signs on the instrument panel ensures the right information is always there at a glance. And if you go over the speed limit, the on-screen display flashes to alert you.

Intelligent All Wheel Drive
Intelligent All-wheel drive

Intelligent all-wheel drive sends precisely the right amount of power and braking to the individual wheels that need it most. So it delivers more grip, greater stability and avoids wheel spin and slip: on-road, off-road and in difficult weather conditions. As this sophisticated system only activates when needed, it also saves fuel when the road is less demanding.

Active City Stop
Active City Stop

To help you avoid a collision in slow-moving traffic, or at speeds under 20 mph, Active City Stop constantly scans the road ahead. If the technology detects the car in front has stopped and you haven’t reacted immediately, the system applies the brakes for you.

Adaptive Cruise Control
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)

ACC technology can sense if there’s a vehicle ahead and is designed to decelerate automatically to maintain a preset distance from it. The system then accelerates back to the pre-selected cruising speed once the road is clear again.

Rear-view Camera
Rear-view camera

This advanced system displays a grid view from the rear of the vehicle on the screen of the premium navigation system. Which makes parking, and reversing to hook up to a trailer or caravan, both safer and easier.
