Features to help you avoid an accident
Our advanced Intelligent Protection System (IPS) is a package of safety measures, both active and passive, that work together to offer you and your passengers total protection. The active features shown below are designed to help you avoid a collision when it becomes imminent.

The IPS also includes technology to protect you from injury when an accident is unavoidable. Find out more about these passive safety features.
Electronic brake-force distribution (EBD)
EBD is designed to improve your vehicle's stability in conditions that fall short of triggering the anti-lock braking system (ABS). It automatically varies the amount of brake force applied to each brake – based on road conditions, speed and the loading of the vehicle – to give maximum stopping power. It also reduces the potential for the rear wheels to lock up.
Anti-lock braking system (ABS)
ABS prevents your car’s wheels from locking up when braking. This helps you keep control of your vehicle and allows you to steer it even under heavy braking.
Emergency Brake Assist (EBA)
EBA works in conjunction with ABS and is designed to reinforce your braking in an emergency stop situation. The system helps to reduce stopping distances, by applying maximum brake force as soon as it detects ‘panic braking’.
Electronic Stability Programme (ESP)
ESP senses when your vehicle is losing grip and automatically applies a braking force to individual wheels, to stabilise it. The system uses advanced sensors to constantly monitor your car’s behaviour, helping you to keep control of it whatever the conditions.
Traction control system (TCS)
TCS prevents the wheels from spinning when you accelerate on a slippery road surface.
