Ford is tackling soaring fuel prices with an economical new engine that helps motorists pay less per mile for petrol than they did four years ago.

Ford commercial vehicles picked up five trophies at the annual awards presented by independent website Vans A2Z. The four category wins were topped with Ford Transit being named overall Van of the Year 2012.

Ford’s latest addition to its best-selling Focus range has won its first award within days of going on sale.

Ford has claimed Best Small Car for the Fiesta and Best Lower Medium Car for the Focus in the prestigious annual Fleet News Awards.

The Ford Fiesta was commended as best small car and crowned the overall winner of Diesel Car magazine’s Used Car of the Year Awards 2012. Three further awards for best large car, best estate car and best MPV went to Mondeo, Mondeo Estate and S-MAX respectively.
