Here is the streamlined recall service, laid out step-by-step:
- The Ford recall agency emails a file containing details of potentially affected vehicles (identified by a 17-digit VIN number) to you, the fleet manager
- After acknowledging receipt of the file by email. You then reconcile the recall file with your own records, to produce an electronic listing, detailing names and addresses of all your drivers or whoever is responsible locally for the vehicle, e.g. the depot manager. Afterwards, promptly return the updated file to the recall agency
- Upon receipt of the file, the Ford recall agency will then contacts all the drivers directly by letter, at the addresses you’ve supplied, advising them of the need to have their vehicles checked/reworked
- The Ford recall agency sends you a monthly report identifying all outstanding VIN numbers for recall. The agency will send a second letter to the drivers of the outstanding vehicles after six months, and then another after a further six months, if necessary
