Powertrains
The power to deliver a top quality job is the key to success in any business. So our comprehensive range of engines and transmissions provide the power just when you need it most. For high torque output that delivers quick acceleration and effortless high-speed cruising, look no further than our transmissions. Meanwhile, the ergonomically-designed facia-mounted gearshift provides a smoother, more car-like gear change.
Powerful and efficient
Our line-up of Duratorq TDCi diesel engines uses advanced design and technology to boost performance and efficiency. The latest common rail fuel-injection system helps shape a hard-working combination of horsepower and torque to make fully laden journeys more comfortable. What’s more, thanks to the upgraded 6-speed manual transmission and optional long-range fuel tank (103 litres), you can cover long distances with ease.
Diesel (9/12-seat Minibus)
2.2-litre Duratorq TDCi engine, available in two power and torque configurations:
• 115 PS/300 Nm – Durashift 6-speed manual transmission
• 140 PS/350 Nm – Durashift 6-speed manual transmission
Diesel (15/17-seat Minibus)
2.4-litre Duratorq TDCi engine, available in three power and torque configurations:
• 100 PS/285 Nm - Durashft 5-speed manual transmission or Durashift 6-speed transmission with optional cDPF
• 115 PS/310 Nm – Durashift 6-speed manual transmission
• 140 PS/375 Nm – Durashift 6-speed manual transmission
Outstanding dynamics
If you spend most of the day behind the steering wheel, it’s important you arrive at your destination refreshed and comfortable. So we paid attention to the driving dynamics, due to careful component selection and engineering design. The steering is lighter and more responsive, making it easier to drive in congested towns or manoeuvre in tight spaces. The ride is also smoother, both laden or unladen, thanks to improved suspension balance.

Once on the move, the smooth acceleration through the rev range, regardless of load or driving conditions, will reduce driving effort. In addition, driver fatigue has been cut by making the cabin more car-like, by carefully reducing noise, vibration and harshness – whatever road surface you are driving on.
Driving safety
We’ve designed the Transit Minibus to be easier to handle and drive by incorporating:

• Four-wheel disc brakes with anti-lock braking system (ABS)
• Brake-force distribution (BD) to prevent rear-wheel lock-up
• Brake Traction Control System (BTCS) to stop wheelspin when pulling away
• Hill Launch Assist (HLA) to keep you from rolling backwards during hill-starts
• Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) with Emergency Brake Assist (EBA). (Please note that ESP is not available with all-wheel drive (AWD).)
Hill Launch Assist (HLA)
HLA prevents you from rolling backwards during hill-starts. It keeps the wheels braked after you release the pedal when stationary. This takes any stress out of the manoeuvre, as it gives you enough time to move your foot from the brake pedal to the accelerator.
Cruise control
Controlled from two switches mounted on an exclusive 4-spoke leather steering wheel, cruise control makes travelling long distances so much more relaxing.

Cruise control is fitted as standard on Transit Trend, and an option on other series.

All-wheel drive (AWD)
This provides the driver with that extra bit of confidence just when it’s needed most on slippery surfaces, on or off-road. Our unique and innovative AWD diverts drive to the front wheels when grip is lost. This added traction complements the exemplary on-road performance. All-wheel drive is available as an option on the Transit 15-seat Minibus. (Please see your Dealer for more details and availability.)
