Powertrain
The power to deliver a top quality job is the key to success in any business. So our comprehensive range of engines and transmissions, plus the choice of front, rear, or all-wheel drive have been developed to withstand the rigours of working life and to provide power just when you need it most.
Powerful and efficient
Our line-up of Duratorq TDCi diesel engines is designed to boost performance and efficiency, for superior load carrying and towing capability. For those with heavy loads to carry, a high-power 3.2-litre Duratorq TDCi 5-cylinder 200 PS with class-leading torque of 470 Nm is now available.

You can also choose different outputs. These include the 2.4-litre Duratorq diesel engine with upgraded six-speed manual transmission and optional long-range fuel tank (103 litres) to help you cover long distances with ease. There’s also the 2.2-litre Duratorq TDCi engine Front Wheel Drive, which delivers either 85 PS and 250 Nm of torque, 115 PS and 300 Nm of torque or 140 PS and 350 Nm of torque. (The 2.4-litre Duratorq diesel engine with upgraded six-speed manual transmission is not available on all variants.)
Diesel front-wheel drive (FWD)

Choosing the right drive
There are advantages to each method of drive on a Transit. So to help you choose the right option, here are the advantages of each.
What does front-wheel drive (FWD) offer?
• Lower load floor for easier loading and unloading
Larger loadspace
Outstanding manoeuvrability and driving feel
Better fuel economy and payload than equivalent rear-wheel-drive (RWD) models
• Ideal choice for multi-drop delivery applications
What does rear-wheel drive (RWD) offer?
• Traditional layout for heavier payloads
• Ideal choice when towing
• Superior traction, particularly when laden
Enhanced steering quality
What does all-wheel drive (AWD) offer?
• Ideally suited to more challenging road surfaces
Additional traction in difficult driving conditions, such as loose surfaces, mud or heavy snow
Increased vehicle competence on slippery or off-road surfaces
• Intelligent automatic system requires no driver input

Outstanding dynamics
Whether you use your Transit as a quick way to transport materials from A to B, or whether you’re spending more time in the driver’s seat, you’ll find that our outstanding dynamics make your drive more comfortable and relaxing. We carefully selected components and engineering design to reduce noise. The steering is lighter and more responsive, making it easier to drive in congested towns or manoeuvre in tight parking spaces. The ride is also smoother, both laden or unladen, thanks to improved suspension balance.

Once on the move, the smooth acceleration through the rev range, regardless of load or driving conditions, will reduce driving effort. In addition, we’ve made the cabin more car-like, and fitted a bulkhead as standard to reduce noise, vibration and harshness, whatever the road surface.
Self-charging ignition key
Another unique feature of Transit is the waterproof key fob that self-charges. Just two minutes of drive time gives you enough charge for 32 button presses, so the key is always ready to work.
Quickclear heated windscreen
Using almost invisible heating elements, this windscreen is rapidly cleared of snow, ice or misting at the touch of a button.
Headlamp Courtesy Delay
When you get out of your Transit at night, the lights are activated so they remain on for 30 seconds. An added bit of security that helps illuminate the way from your vehicle.
All-wheel drive (AWD)
This provides the driver with that extra bit of confidence just when it’s needed most on slippery surfaces, on or off-road. Our unique and innovative AWD diverts drive to the front wheels when grip is lost. This added traction complements the exemplary on-road performance. All-Wheel Drive is available on the 330S, 350M and 350L variants.
Shift Indicator Light (SIL)
An ideal way to help lower CO2 emissions, the Shift Indicator light (SIL) illuminates for a short period of time to let you know you that shifting gear can be more fuel-efficient. The Shift Indicator won’t light up during high acceleration, braking or when the clutch pedal is pressed.
Choice of bulkheads
A full steel bulkhead is standard on all Transits, but alternatively there are a range of optional bulkheads. These include: a full-height steel bulkhead, a folding mesh bulkhead, a half-height, full-width steel bulkhead, steel bulkhead with full-width recess, steel bulkhead with driver recess, steel bulkhead with glazed window and two-bar ladder-style steel bulkhead.

Bulkheads are extremely important to protect both you and your passengers from shifting loads, particularly when braking at high speeds. They also prevent thieves from gaining access to your cargo by climbing over the seats. Other potential benefits of bulkheads are reduced noise levels and more efficient heating and air conditioning, as only the front area of your Transit needs to be heated or cooled, rather than your entire van. (Please see your Dealer for more details and availability).
Portable music connector
For your convenience, an AUX jack is available as standard, so you can plug in your portable music player and operate it yourself.
Driving safety
Four-wheel disc brakes with anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), which prevents rear-wheel lock-up, a Brake Traction Control System (BTCS), which stops wheelspin when pulling away, Electronic Stability Programme (ESP – not available on petrol engines or on AWD) with Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) – all ensure you can remain composed and in control in any situation.
Hill Launch Assist (HLA)
HLA prevents you from rolling backwards during hill-starts. It keeps the wheels braked after you release the pedal when stationary. This takes any stress out of the manoeuvre, as it gives you enough time to move your foot from the brake pedal to the accelerator.
