We've done everything we possibly can to ensure that whatever you're carrying or towing is safe, protected and easier to fasten down. There's also an impressive array of security measures on new Ranger.

Security
Seat belt pre-tensioner and load limiter
These take up any slack between you and your seat belt, and operate milliseconds before the airbags are activated. They keep you and your passengers firmly in their seats, and in a position where the airbag will be most effective, reducing the risk of injury.
Airbags
We take your safety very seriously. So our comprehensive 6-airbag system, available on XLT, Thunder and Wildtrak, is designed to activate in milliseconds. There are also full-size front and side curtain airbags for the driver and front passenger.

The steering column collapses into the dashboard, which can help minimise the potential risk of injury on impact.

Increased visibility
The commanding, high seating position provides you with excellent visibility over traffic or hedgerows. Plus large interior and exterior mirrors provide a better all-round view, especially important when negotiating a small lane with a large trailer.

4-wheel anti-lock braking system (4W-ABS)
4W-ABS is a combination of an anti-lock braking system (ABS) and electronic brake-force distribution (EBD). So, whether you are laden with a palette of bricks, or just carrying a set of golf clubs, this advanced system provides safe, effective braking and steering stability when braking mid corner. Plus, short distance stopping is also improved in adverse weather conditions.

Park assist
There are rear sensors on Thunder and Wildtrak that make parking and manoeuvring both safer and easier. An audible warning helps you judge the distance between your car and any obstacle behind you, so you have complete confidence and peace of mind when reversing.

To ensure any load remains securely in the pick-up box, there are tie down points and two pivoting guides mounted, for long objects, on the rear structure (except Wildtrak).

Total protection
We have equipped all models with a range of security measures to help ensure your vehicle stays where you parked it. For instance, there’s remote central locking on all three cabstyles and a steering column ignition lock.
 
Our Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) immobilises the engine until your uniquely coded key is detected in the ignition, so your Ranger can’t be driven away if a thief manages to get into the cab. Each Ranger also comes with a visible Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), which means it can be easily traced.
 
Finally, we have added steel shielding to lock mechanisms and made sure your fuel is safe by fitting the fuel flap with a cab release
