Engines and technology
There’s only one new Focus RS, and there’s only one engine that would do justice to it – the Duratec 2.5-litre, five-cylinder engine. With this incredible power unit, you can expect a top speed of around 160 mph.

Because this is an overview of the new Ford Focus RS some features mentioned below may be standard across the range whilst others may be optional extras or available only on selected models. For specific details please download the new Focus RS eBrochure or contact your Ford Dealer.
The turbo charged five-cylinder engine has been redesigned and fitted with unique camshafts, a revised intake and manifold system, plus a new cylinder head to produce an outstanding 305PS and 440Nm of torque. The weight savings of the new engine, together with its front-wheel drive, means an excellent power-to-weight ratio that helps the car achieve 0-100km/h in a little less than six seconds.

Transmission: Six-speed manual
Focus has a reputation for responsive handling and amazing road holding, so it was a real feat to be able to improve the driving quality with Focus RS. We achieved it by giving a 40mm wider track; stronger, longer driveshafts; revised springs and dampers; and a thicker, longer rear anti-roll bar. Having retuned the steering system you’re also able to enjoy very precise feedback and a sharper steering response.

And to ensure the car is still capable of stopping with its improved power and handling on corners, we’ve upgraded the brakes, too.

As for the Electronic Stability Programme, fitted in every Ford, we have designed a special version for Focus RS. This allows you to enjoy a sportier drive before it kicks in – with an override switch for real enthusiasts.
Built to perform
The World Rally Championship is a series of gruelling events, across four continents, taking in the extremes of both climatic conditions and challenging terrains. The manufacturing quality and performance levels are built into all Fords that carry the RS badge on the back. With this in mind, we have no hesitation in offering Focus RS with our standard Ford of Europe warranty.
RS heritage
The World Rally Championship was formed in 1973, and shortly afterwards we introduced the Rallye Sport (RS) badge. It celebrates our legendary performance production cars that started with the RS1600 and evolved through the Escort RS Cosworth, the Capri, and the Sierra, before passing on to Focus. Every piece of innovative engineering and technology we develop and test in rallies throughout the world is incorporated into our RS road cars, enhancing both performance and safety. We know that the badge attracts drivers who understand and appreciate its rich sporting heritage and demand a performance worthy of this icon.
Incredible traction
We’ve designed a highly advanced suspension system, called RevoKnuckle, to work with a Quaife limited-slip differential. The system ensures that the power produced by this front-wheel drive Focus RS is converted into excellent traction.
Independent Control Blade multi-link rear suspension
This clever system absorbs both horizontal and vertical rear-wheel movement, which means it deals effortlessly with poor road surfaces, including hazardous potholes. It also provides passive rear-wheel steering for increased cornering stability, ideal whether you’re putting your Focus RS through its paces along winding roads, or negotiating traffic in town. And it’s been proven that independent Control Blade rear suspension is more effective at cushioning impacts than traditional torsion beam suspension.
Park Assist
Rear sensors make parking safer and easier. An audible warning helps you judge the distance between your car and any obstacle behind you. So parking, as every other manoeuvre in your Focus RS, will be quick and confident.
Electronic Stability Programme (ESP)
This clever system has sensors that monitor the road wheels and the steering wheel. If there is any sudden change in the steering or braking, ESP automatically applies the necessary power and braking adjustments to individual wheels. All of which helps reduce stopping distances in an emergency.

This Focus RS version allows a very ‘sporty’ drive before automatic activation – plus, there’s also a deactivation mode for enthusiasts.
Anti-lock braking system (ABS)
Fitted as standard on all models, ABS stops the brakes from locking the wheels. This helps prevent skidding if you have to brake when cornering or need to make an emergency stop. For further stability when braking, this system comes with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD).
Emergency Brake Assist (EBA)
EBA ensures full braking force is available whenever necessary, helping reduce stopping distances in an emergency. And, should you need to brake heavily, the hazard warning lights automatically come on to alert other drivers.
