Technical highlights
From the FordPower Starter Button that readies the engine, to headlights that illuminate your way around corners, and windscreen wipers that automatically spring into action at the first raindrop; the Mondeo is bristling with the latest technology to help make every journey safer, more relaxing and enjoyable.

Because this is an overview of the Ford Mondeo, some features mentioned below may be standard across the range whilst others may be optional extras or available only on selected models. Please refer to the full Features and specifications for specific details or contact your Ford Dealer. You can also use our configurator tool to build your perfect Ford Mondeo.

Headlamp courtesy delay
The headlights and puddle lights stay on for a few extra seconds as you walk away from your car. A convenient feature that should help you see your way safely to your door at night.
FordKeyFree-System
This is a convenient device that means you don’t have to fumble around looking for your keys. Simply walk up to the door or boot and pull the handle. Even if your key is in your pocket or bag, the system will detect its unique security code – unlocking the vehicle and de-activating the alarm. You can, of course, use the remote control buttons or the key to open or lock the car, if you’d prefer.

Park Assist
There are front and rear sensors that make parking and manoeuvring both safer and easier. An audible warning helps you judge the distance between your car and any obstacle behind or in front of you, so you have complete confidence and peace of mind, particularly in tight spaces.
Ford Easy Fuel
People often mistakenly add the wrong fuel to their tank. It’s easily done – but not in a Mondeo. Ford Easy Fuel is a capless refuelling system with a mis-fuelling inhibitor that can tell the difference between the fuel pump nozzles used for petrol and diesel. It only allows you to fuel up when the correct nozzle is inserted.

FordPower Starter Button
Security-encrypted sensors automatically ready the engine when they detect the key’s unique code. Simply press the clutch on the manual version, or the brake on the automatic, and push the FordPower Starter Button to start your car.
Human Machine Interface (HMI) and Ford Convers+
This intuitive digital command centre helps you stay in complete control of many of the car’s systems. Featuring a standard, enhanced or Ford Convers+ cluster display, the HMI is operated by two steering wheel-mounted toggles for audio and vehicle settings. With the left toggle you can find and change radio stations or CD tracks, as well as set the volume. The right toggle switch controls the cluster display for vehicle settings and the trip computer. On the Ford Convers+ cluster display, the right toggle lets you scroll through MultiMedia lists, controlling the phone, radio, and CD player.
MultiMedia DVD entertainment system
With the Mondeo’s MultiMedia DVD system, you can keep even the most demanding of passengers entertained. It comes with two independent head restraint displays, wireless headphones and a remote control. All you need are your favourite DVDs, games console, or your personal MP3 player, which you simply plug in. You won’t believe how quickly calm can descend in the back.

MP3 and USB connector
With the Mondeo, an AUX jack is available, so you can plug in your MP3 player and operate it yourself.

You can also use the USB connection, available with Bluetooth® with Voice Control, to plug in your MP3 player, and see your favourite tracks appear on the car’s dashboard display. To control the music, just operate the steering wheel toggles, or issue voice commands using Bluetooth® with Voice Control technology.
Lighting
Whenever the headlights are on, a soft, amber glow illuminates the centre console area around the gearshift. There is also the added convenience of having the way to your front door clearly lit at night, as the headlights and Headlamp Courtesy Delay stay on for a few extra seconds as you walk away from your car.
Dual Electronic Automatic Temperature Control (DEATC)
What if you feel the cold, but your passengers don’t? You and your front seat passenger can set the temperature with up to 4° variation between you. Your rear seat passengers also have adjustable vents to keep them comfortable on the pillars between the front and back seats.

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Forward Alert(FA)
With ACC you can automatically keep your chosen distance from the car in front. Should the car in front slow down and reduce the gap, your speed drops, too. And when traffic speeds up, you automatically return to cruising speed. Meanwhile, FA monitors your distance to the vehicle in front. If you drive too close, a warning noise and flashing light activate.
Tyre Pressure Monitoring
Tyre Pressure Monitoring with individual wheel sensors that check the tyre pressure, provide accurate pressure data and alert you before any loss of pressure becomes an issue.

Mobile Navigation
Turn your Bluetooth®-enabled mobile smart phone (mobile phone not included) into a navigation unit. Simply insert the navigation chip, enter your journey details and the phone will transmit route data to the car’s audio system (available in combination with Sony DAB Audio systems).
Hill Start Assist (HSA)
This system prevents you from rolling backwards when making a hill start. After releasing the brake pedal when stationary, HSA keeps the wheels braked, leaving you enough time to move your foot from the brake pedal to the accelerator without the car moving.

Active safety features
The Mondeo’s active safety features help provide the safest possible environment for you and your passengers. These features include:

Anti-lock braking system (ABS) to help prevent skidding with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD) for more stable braking.

Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) with Traction Assist (TA) monitors the rotation of the wheels, as well as the steering wheel angle, yaw angle and sideways movement. If the sensors detect either the front or rear tyres slipping, the onboard computer modifies the engine power and applies the brakes to individual wheels. This keeps them under control and helps keep the vehicle stable. Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) is there to ensure full braking force is available whenever necessary, helping reduce stopping distances in an emergency. To alert other drivers if you do have to brake heavily, the hazard warning lights automatically come on.

Halogen Adaptive Front lighting System (AFS)
With AFS, the headlights swivel to the left or right by up to 15° according to your speed and the angle of the steering wheel. So, as you turn the wheel, the dipped lights swivel to illuminate the road as you take the corner. This boosts forward visibility through bends and creates a safer driving environment. Integrated static cornering lights are activated when you turn the steering wheel 30°. These give even more light on sharper bends, to help you avoid any potential problems around the next corner.
Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS)
When you fall for something as alluring as the Mondeo, you want to know that it will remain safe and secure when you have to leave it anywhere. That’s why we have incorporated so many security features. The locks are all high-security, anti-burst and shielded with strengthened mountings. And for extra peace of mind, there’s our patented Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) immobiliser, which disables the engine until your uniquely-coded key is put into the ignition or is recognised by the sensors.
Thatcham Category 1 alarm
With the highest rating awarded by the UK’s Motor Insurance Repair Research Centre, the Mondeo’s Category 1 combined car alarm and immobiliser not only makes your vehicle more secure. It also helps lower your insurance premiums. This alarm is triggered if an intruder tries to open the windows, bonnet, or boot. It also protects the audio system, and uses volume sensing to monitor movements inside the vehicle.
Double locking with global open/close
The Mondeo’s double locking key facility means you can remotely close all the electric windows and sunroof, as well as deadlocking all the doors. So if an intruder gains entry by breaking the windows, they will be unable to unlock the doors from inside. You can activate double locking simply by pressing the ‘lock’ button on the key fob twice.

You can also open all the windows and the sunroof in your Mondeo, by pressing and holding the ‘unlock’ button. To close them, simply press and hold the ‘lock’ button.
