Its dynamic, muscular yet elegant profile is shaped by Ford's kinetic Design, giving the vehicle the impression that it is moving even when stationary. Both driver and passengers can enjoy the quiet satisfaction of travelling in style.
Halogen Adaptive Front lighting System (AFS)
With AFS, the headlights swivel to the left or right by up to 15° according to your speed and the angle of the steering wheel. So, as you turn the wheel, the dipped lights swivel to illuminate the road as you take the corner. This boosts forward visibility through bends and creates a safer driving environment. Integrated static cornering lights are activated when you turn the steering wheel 30°. These give even more light on sharper bends, to help you avoid any potential problems around the next corner.
High Intensity Discharge (HID) xenon headlights
If you do a lot of driving at night, or in poor weather, these optional headlights are ideal, generating an extremely bright light but consuming less energy and with a longer service life than conventional halogen bulbs. They also light up a longer and wider angle than standard halogen bulbs.
Premium blue glass
For a distinguished yet contemporary look, the Mondeo Titanium, Titanium X and Titanium S series have premium blue glass as standard.
Ford ECOnetic Technologies and the introduction of Ford EcoBoost SCTi Engines
We all like to get more than expected. That’s why Ford developed EcoBoost, the first of a new generation of high-efficiency turbo charged petrol engines. EcoBoost is one component in a range of new Ford ECOnetic Technologies – a forward-thinking strategy designed to create vehicles that have lower CO2 emissions and improved cost of ownership, yet still retain the unrivalled driving dynamics that Ford cars are renowned for.
Featuring lightweight all-aluminium construction, EcoBoost has an advanced combustion system, which offers new levels of performance and efficiency to petrol engines. To put this into perspective, the EcoBoost engine increases Mondeo’s fuel efficiency by up to 20%. What’s more, it also reduces CO2 emissions by up to 20% as well. Thanks to the combination of turbo charging, as well as direct injection and variable valve timing technologies, EcoBoost still delivers the torque and power of a larger engine.
Ford Duratorq TDCi engines
Our diesel engines use the latest technology to combine power with outstanding fuel economy to reduce CO2 emissions. The significantly improved 2.0-litre Duratorq TDCi diesel has been reworked to match Stage 5 emission regulations and is now joined by a new 163 PS (120 kW) version. Both engines are highly efficient, deliver a smooth and refined drive and are available with the PowerShift automatic transmission.
Introducing Ford PowerShift – a key part of Ford ECOnetic Technologies
We all like it when things run smoothly. So Ford has used the very latest in gearbox technology to create Ford PowerShift – just one of the many new innovations that form Ford ECOnetic Technologies.
With Ford PowerShift, you benefit from all of the convenience that an automatic transmission offers, yet still enjoy the smoothness and driving performance normally associated with a manual. Featuring a new state-of-the-art six-speed automatic double-clutch transmission, it cleverly selects the next appropriate gear at exactly the right moment, delivering lightning-fast gear changes with no disruption to the flow of power.
As well as being more responsive, Ford PowerShift offers significantly improved fuel economy compared to a conventional automatic. There are also three gear modes to choose from; Automatic, Automatic Sport and for those who prefer manual transmissions, a Manual Sport mode. This allows you to switch gears at the flick of the gearshift but without the need to engage a clutch pedal.
