Active safety features

These features have been specially designed to help you to avoid accidents. We have equipped the Focus Coupé-Cabriolet with an advanced braking system to provide total reassurance, whatever the conditions. The Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) constantly monitors feedback from each wheel and applies a braking pulse should there be any momentary loss of grip.

Meanwhile, Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) guarantees that extra pressure is instantly available in case of emergencies.

We believe that potential problems should be tackled before they become dangerous. That’s why Tyre Deflation Detection technology is available across the Focus Coupé-Cabriolet range, with sensors that constantly monitor each tyre, and provide an alert on the instrument panel if there’s a loss of pressure.

Rain-sensing wipers

Rain-sensing wipers offer six levels of sensitivity, springing into action automatically at the first drop of rain and increasing in speed to deal with whatever the weather can come up with. Aside from the added convenience, it’s one less thing to have to think about.

Park Assist

There are rear sensors that make parking and manoeuvring both safer and easier. An audible warning helps you judge the distance between your car and any obstacle behind you, so you have complete confidence and peace of mind, particularly in tight spaces.

Intelligent Protection System (IPS)

IPS in the Focus Coupé-Cabriolet features innovative sensors that deploy the appropriate safety systems in milliseconds, such as driver’s and passenger’s front airbags and front-side airbags. There’s also an ultra-strong Roll-Over Protection Device (RPD) hidden inside each of the rear head restraints. So, while you enjoy the beautiful scenery, you can relax knowing you’re surrounded by a wealth of safety features ready to activate, instantly.

Pedal intrusion prevention system

In the event of an accident, the pedals retract to reduce potential injury to the driver’s feet and ankles.

FordKeyFree-System

This is a convenient device that stops you having to search around for your keys. Simply walk up to the door or boot, pull the handle and the system will recognise the presence of the key, even if it’s in a handbag or pocket. Then you can unlock the vehicle and de-activate the alarm. You can, of course, use the remote control buttons to open or lock the car if you’d prefer.

Security-encrypted sensors automatically ready the engine when they detect the key’s unique code. Simply press the clutch on the manual version, or the brake on the automatic, and push the FordPower Starter Button to start your car.

Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS)

When you fall for something as alluring as the Focus Coupé-Cabriolet, you want to know that it will remain safe and secure. We have incorporated many security features including a Category 1 approved perimeter alarm. All the locks are high-security, anti-burst and are shielded with strengthened mountings. For extra peace of mind, there’s our patented Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) immobiliser. PATS disables the engine if your key isn’t in the ignition or if the sensors haven’t recognised its unique security code – if you are carrying it in your pocket or bag.
