The new Focus offers an array of intelligent features, refined engines and innovative technologies that together make a big difference to your pocket and the environment.
EcoBoost engine
The new Focus is available with the 1.6 litre EcoBoost petrol engine, which is compact and light, yet delivers the power, torque and performance of a larger engine. It achieves this by combining direct petrol injection, turbocharging and variable valve timing to extract the maximum amount of power from every drop of fuel. This, in turn, improves fuel efficiency and reduces CO2 emissions. With EcoBoost engines, fuel efficiency has never been so exhilarating!
TDCi engine
Both the frugal 1.6 litre TDCi (available in 95 PS or 115 PS variants) and powerful 2.0 litre TDCi (in 115 PS, 140 PS or 163 PS) diesel engines have seen a series of performance improvements. For example, the higher pressure, multiple injection process and more efficient fuel pump both significantly increase energy efficiency. The result? Increased power, torque and fuel economy, along with lower CO2 emissions.
Ford PowerShift automatic transmission
You can opt for Ford PowerShift – a six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox that pre-selects the next gear for you. This technology means you experience no loss of power when changing gear and it makes driving an automatic smoother and more fun. In addition, seamless gear changes save fuel and lower CO2 emissions compared to a conventional automatic. Plus, there's little increase in fuel consumption compared to a manual gearbox, so you can choose an automatic without any compromise.
EPAS
The electric power-assisted steering system (EPAS) is an ingenious development that offers easier, lighter steering at slower town speeds or when you’re parking in a tight spot. It also gives you firmer steering for more control at higher speeds, when you’re travelling on the motorway, for instance. Unlike conventional power-assisted steering that operates continuously and consumes energy and fuel, our EPAS only activates when required, enhancing fuel economy and making the car lighter on your pocket, too.
Ford Auto-Start-Stop
Ford Auto-Start-Stop automatically switches off the engine when the vehicle is stationary, for example when you're at traffic lights or idling in a queue. This clever technology also looks after your comfort and entertainment by keeping systems such as the air conditioning running while the engine is off. Then it restarts the engine the moment you're ready to move. Fitted as standard on some models, it's ideal if most of your driving takes place in town and can reduce your fuel consumption by 10% (urban cycle). A saving that should certainly give you pause for thought.
Shift Indicator
The Shift Indicator on the instrument panel tells you when to change gear for maximum fuel efficiency. An innovation that's as simple as it is effective.
Ford Eco Mode driver information system
How do you drive more efficiently? It's easy with Eco Mode. It continually assesses the effect of your driving behaviour on fuel consumption - including speed, gear shifting, braking and anticipation levels, plus your ratio of short trips. Smart software then provides useful advice on achieving better fuel economy according to your driving style.

CO2 emissions
Our engines are lighter, more refined and optimised for energy efficiency and reduced CO2 emissions. For example, the all-new Focus now has CO2 emissions of just 109-139 g/km. And we are now also creating engines that are more recyclable at the end of their lives. Our manufacturing processes uses more sustainable materials and many of our power and lighting needs are drawn from renewable sources. Only by understanding our impact and taking decisions and actions at every level can we ensure we continue to make a positive difference.

Ford ECOnetic Technologies
At Ford, we are committed to improving our environmental credentials through our cars and the way we build them. We are investing in technology to reduce CO2 and lower the cost of ownership – without any compromise in the design or driving dynamics of our vehicles.
Production process
Our thinking goes further and is reflected in everything we do. That's why we're improving the sustainability of our manufacturing processes. For instance:
·      Solar panels at our Bridgend plant in Wales generate enough energy to light an area of 10,000 square metres during every shift.
·      We are energy self-sufficient at our Dagenham Diesel Centre in the UK, where all our power needs are met by two 85 metre high wind turbines.
·      Our plant in Cologne, Germany uses hydro-electric power, while finished cars travel on river barges. This further reduces CO2 emissions as we don't have to rely on road transportation.
