Power operated tailgate
You can open the tailgate from a button on the centre console, tailgate handle or key fob – great when your hands are full. The intelligent design lets you programme the opening height to avoid obstacles, such as the garage roof. For protection, two anti-pinch sensors will detect any obstruction when closing and then safely release.

EcoBoost efficient performance
The 1.6-litre EcoBoost turbocharged petrol engine delivers 18% improved fuel economy with 18% lower CO2 emissions* compared to the 2.0-litre Duratec petrol engine. It's a driving technology win-win, delivering large engine performance with the fuel economy of a much smaller unit.
Seat belt reminder system
To help promote peace of mind for the driver, visual and audible alerts indicate when any seat belt is fastened or unfastened. (Grand C-MAX only)
Rear-view camera
Select reverse gear and a rearward view automatically displays on the instrument panel. You can see how close you are to objects behind and graphics superimposed on the image indicate the vehicle's direction of travel. (Option, as part of Sony DAB navigation system at extra cost, on C-MAX and Grand C-MAX Titanium).

EcoBoost petrol engine evolution
EcoBoost turbocharged petrol engines deliver more torque and power with 18% greater fuel efficiency and lower CO2 emissions of up to 18% compared to the 2.0-litre Duratec petrol engine. You'll enjoy the larger engine performance with the fuel economy of a much smaller unit.
Ford Duratorq diesel technology
Advanced engineering combines performance with outstanding fuel efficiency and low CO2 emissions. The 2.0-litre 140 PS Duratorq TDCi now delivers more power with even more refinement giving impressive fuel efficiency of 55.4 mpg (combined cycle) and CO2 emissions of just 139 g/km* (in the manual transmission C-MAX).
Interior design
A sculpted centre console and instrument panel envelops driver and front passenger, while the detailing, trim colours and décor add a more premium feel to the cabin. Harmonious design stylishly integrates practical touches with ergonomic features, plus state-of-the-art audio and navigation systems.
Seatbelt minder
The Grand C-MAX features a seatbelt minder system. It will alert the driver visually and audibly if seat belts are unfastened before you drive off or while you’re on the move.
Speed Limiter
Available as part of cruise control, this system lets you set your top speed between 19 to 70 mph. The engine management system ensures you keep within your set limit, helping you concentrate on the road ahead rather than the speedometer. (Standard on C-MAX and Grand C-MAX Titanium).

Active safety systems
These systems are always on standby, ready to activate in response to a safety problem or abnormal event. Many are fitted as standard on both the Ford C-MAX and Grand C-MAX, which demonstrates our commitment to high standards of safety and protection.

Passive safety systems
With the latest in driver and occupant protection technologies featuring in the C-MAX and Grand C-MAX, the key element in our passive safety package is the Intelligent Protection System (IPS). This includes the following advanced systems, ready to spring into action in a fraction of a second:
- Full-size driver (60 litre) and passenger (110 litre) airbags featuring the latest single stage inflator technology
- High power seat belt pre-tensioners and belt load limiting for front-seat seat belts
- Standard inflatable side curtains for front and second row seat occupants and thorax-protecting side airbags for front occupants
- Collapsible steering column that moves away from the driver in the event of a collision and is optimised for energy absorption and leg protection
- Pedal Intrusion Prevention System (PIPS) where safety pedals collapse away from the driver to prevent injury in case of impact
- Passive neck injury protection system on front seats to help the driver and front passenger avoid whiplash
- Three-point seat belts in all positions with height-adjustable mounts on front seat belts
- Seat belt reminders for driver and front passenger, and (Grand C-MAX only) for second and third row seats
- ISOFIX child seat attachment anchors on outboard seats second row
- Approval for universal ISOFIX child seats
- Optional passenger airbag deactivation kit (Dealer fitted)
- Further optimisation for a wide range of human body profiles
- Crash severity sensing system with sensors that inform the vehicle which safety measures to employ to optimise your protection
- Automatic hazard warning lights – automatically activated in the event of an accident
*Note: a child seat should never be placed in the front passenger seat when the Ford vehicle is equipped with an operational front passenger’s airbag. The safest place for children is properly restrained on the second row seats.

TÜV allergy
If you, or a member of your family suffer from allergies, you'll be relieved to know that the pollen filter and the materials we use inside the C-MAX meet the requirements of the 'TUV TOXPROOF Criteria Catalogue for Vehicle Interiors' by the TUV Produkt and Umwelt GmbH to minimise the risk of allergic reactions.
