Protection against unexpected MoT costs
It’s no wonder people feel nervous at MoT time – problems can be costly to fix, on top of the initial MoT fee. But with MoT Test Insurance from Ford Protect, available as an add-on to our Ford Protect used vehicle Mechanical Breakdown Insurance policy, you can cover yourself against unexpected MoT costs.
 
Specifically, Ford Protect MoT Test Insurance provides protection in the event of an MoT test failure by protecting specific items listed on a VT30 (MoT failure certificate).
 
Protection is available for the next 1, 2 or 3 consecutive MoT tests. There must be a minimum of 90 days of MoT remaining on the covered vehicle.
 
The claims limit is £750 per MoT, with a £25 excess payable by you.

• All seat belts, condition and operation

• fuel injection
• ECU or sensor replacement directly as a result of calibration failure to meet MoT exhaust gas emission standards
• horn
• speedometer and speed limiter
• windscreen wipers and washers (excluding wiper blades and rubbers)

MoT Test Insurance general exclusions
The cost of the:
  • MoT test and re-test
  • accident or structural damage
  • rust or corrosion
  • windscreen
  • exhaust system and catalytic converter
  • engine tuning or adjustment
  • wheel alignment
  • brake friction material where the condition relates to wear and tear.
